About a billion years ago when humanity first came up with the concept of turning a little piece of cooper into a nail, someone decided to use a rock to bang that first nail into a piece of wood and that was how the first coat hanger was born. Needless to say things did go a little different from that, but the one obvious truth is that for centuries we have been using all sorts of hammers to bank in nails and it is about time that every carpenter, painter or woodworker, basically anyone who uses more than 10 nails ever day, to start using a more advanced piece of technology. And this is where the framing nailer comes in, helping you finish that job at least one hour faster than if you had to use a hammer for each nail. We have looked at some of the best framing nailers on the market today and have come up with the following list of the top 5 tools of this type. Most of these are air pressure operated, but that would require you to have an additional tool, so we have also included a battery operated framing nailer in our list. So make sure that you scroll down past the following table highlighting the most significant details about each product, and check out the detailed review we have created for each product further down.

1. Bostitch F21PL Framing Nailer

The best framing nailer on the market, in terms of how much you are paying and what you are getting for your money has to be the Bostitch F21PL. It is not the most expensive framing nailer on our list, but it does the job well, and many professionals who have used this machine will attest to the fact that it will last through hundreds of jobs over several years without any problems. You will need to own or to buy an air compressor, but that is something almost any construction specialist should have anyway because it is such a versatile tool and it enables you to use so many other things. The Bostitch F21PL is our favorite choice because it has 2 different types of nose pieces, that you can change extremely easily, and it has rubber skid pads which make it a very comfortable machine to use. It is also one of the lightest framing nailers on the market today due to its magnesium housing. Finally, to give you an idea of just how reliable this machine can be let us just point out that its manufacturer has actually placed a 7 year limited warranty on it.

There is of course, a cheaper alternative on the market today, so let’s just get that out of the way since everybody will be wondering just how low we can go. When it comes to buy a good quality framing nailer, you should not go any lower than the NuMax SFR2190. It costs less than half the price of the Bostitch, but it does come with only a 1 year warranty, which tells you how much confidence NuMax has in their product versus Bostitch. That is not to say that the NuMax SFR2190 is not an excellent product: in fact it has actually earned a 4.3 star rating on Amazon from over 100 customers. That is a pretty impressive rating and the real reason why that rating is not a little bit bigger is because you have to change triggers in order to change from single to contact nailing.
3. Freeman P4FRFNCB Framing Nailer

At a glance you would be excused to think that the Freeman P4FRFNCB is just an expensive tool as the Bostitch, but the fact is that, for the money, you are actually getting 4 different types of framing nailers. We still prefer the Bostitch because there you have just one tool that changes nose pieces for 2 different functions. However, the advantage with the Freeman P4FRFNCB Combo Kit, is that you will not where out the gun putting it to work at 4 different jobs. So, in fact, you are actually paying less than even the cost of the NuMax framing nailer since, with the Freeman P4FRFNCB you get, besides the framing nailer, a stapler with quick release, an angle finish nailer, a brad nailer, and a narrow crown nailer. The value for money you get here is really impressive, but you have to have a need for all of these tools, or else you end up over paying for the framing nailer since you are not really using anything else.
4. Paslode 902600 Framing Nailer

We are going to be the first ones to admit that the Paslode 902600 framing nailer is the most expensive tool on our list, and that it is one of the most expensive nailers on the market today. However, if you do not own an air compressor, it is your best and most affordable offer. And we also have to admit that, since it is powered by a lithium ion rechargeable battery, it is a more versatile and easy to use tool. You can get in with it into areas that are absolutely impossible to reach with normal framing nailers. And you do not have to worry about the battery running out on you as a full charge can perfectly deliver about 5,000 nails.
5. Hitachi NR90AE Framing Nailer

The last framing nailer on our list is the Hitachi NR90AE. It is the last because it is also the most expensive air powered nailer, but it does have several features that may convince you to pay the extra money. For one, it has a depth adjustment dial, that allows you to control how deep the nails will go in. Also it has a 2 piece aluminum magazine, which makes changing or removing it for repairs much easier than on regular framing nails. Lastly, it has a hardened claw tip that makes the Hitachi NR90AE a safer tool since it reduced slippage when toe-nailing and it is also a good guarantee that this tool will be with you through hundreds or even thousands jobs.
